Introducing an Easy, Fast, and Effective Way to Determine if ALL your Employees are Working with Maximum Ergonomic Efficiency, Compliance, and Safety...

So you...

I’m Marnie Douglas, a licensed physiotherapist in Sydney. As soon as I opened the doors to my practice, I noticed something very strange. Fit people would arrive in my office with neck pain, back pain, wrist pain, and shoulder pain. In many cases, the pain was so awful they had to miss work.

I would ask these patients if they had a sports injury - or had been in some type of car accident.

“No,” they would reply. “I spend all day working in my office.”

You see, the modern workplace can be extremely harmful to a person’s health. The simple act of sitting down all day in a misaligned or poorly designed chair can lead to a wide range of physical problems that lead to lost productivity and missed work days.

Plus...employees who get these problems can get fed up with the company and start to look around for a company that will simply pay attention to their comfort and ergonomics. Not paying attention to workplace economics can be expensive.

In fact, PC World Magazine reported that repetitive strain injuries caused by poor ergonomics cost U.S. companies $600 million a year. And the magazine also reported that 68% of employees in a recent survey reported workplace discomfort - simply from sitting down all day!

After seeing so many employees experiencing pain from office work, I started a consulting service to help companies of all sizes improve their ergonomics. And it’s been very effective.

However, in working with many of Australia’s top companies, I ran into another problem: the people in charge of office health and safety found it difficult to keep up with potential ergonomic problems in their offices. Health and safety specialists simply do not have the time to make sure that every employee is ‘sitting comfortably’ throughout the day.

So, with input from clients, I came up with a simple software solution that lets people in charge of ergonomics pinpoint potential ergonomic problems quickly and easily.

I named the software ErgoAssess and you can discover how you’ll benefit from the software by watching the short video below.

What is ErgoAssess?

ErgoAssess is a web-based tool that helps employers fully assess the ‘state of ergonomics’ in their work place. ErgoAssess starts with an online survey to ask employees about their work practices, desk configuration, and other key ergonomic factors. Surveys take less than ten minutes and can be completed at home or in the office.

Management receives a comprehensive report detailing potential ergonomic risks. For low risk employees, the system provides educational ergonomic advice online. If the survey results indicate there’s a high risk of injury, you can make the necessary adjustments to their workplace environment.

Here’s How ErgoAssess Works...

With the information you receive from ErgoAssess, you can take broad and specific action to help you minimize risk and significantly improve workplace ergonomics...providing the following valuable benefits:

Remember - the medical problems associated with repetitive workplace injuries CAN be prevented. And ErgoAssess provides you with the information you need to take the necessary steps to prevent these injuries.

The Home Office Problem

With so many companies letting employees telecommute, there’s a significant ‘new’ problem - only a small number of employees have an ergonomic set up at home. Again - ErgoAssess alerts you to this problem. And remember - recent court rulings have put the burden on employees to maintain worker safety even in the home office!

“ErgoAssess was first implemented by Nutricia following a significant Worker’s Compensation claim which identified the need for improved ergonomics training and risk assessment. The ErgoAssess tool has been a fantastic resource for our company, which has allowed us to assess the risk of all our staff, both office based and those who work from home. As the system educates staff with individual recommendations, we have found that since completion of the survey, Nutricia has recorded an increase in staff comfort levels, an increase in productivity and a reduction in work related injuries. I highly recommend ErgoAssess as a tool that any organisation can use to comprehensively assess risk in a cost effective and time saving manner. I am confident that if we had implemented ErgoAssess earlier, we could have avoided a costly compensation claim.”

“Interfleet used the ErgoAssess tool to assist in addressing our OHS obligations. As an organization we understand the increasing importance of providing a safe working environment for our employees, while also identifying risk within the workplace. While the risk of injury to office workers from their immediate workstation is often overlooked, ErgoAssess has provided an effective solution to enable staff to make changes to their workstation via the tips and specific recommendations provided to them. The software addresses the key aspects that a face to face assessment would, at a fraction of the cost. The backend reporting allows us to identify risks and trends, while keeping a concise audit trail. Being a web based application, it was simple to roll out across the entire organization for existing staff. In addition, it has now also become part of our induction process for new staff.”

Melissa Smollett - Corporate Systems Manager. Interfleet Technology Pty Ltd.

Easy and Fast for Employees

For the employee, we’ve made ErgoAssess extremely simple. Employees receive an email and click directly to the survey. Employees simply answer questions about their workplace/workstation; they can also access tips to help them avoid poor practices that can lead to injury.

Low risk users receive educational/self-help materials when the survey is finished. HR employees receive direct notification about high risk users.

Case Study: ErgoAssess and Home Based Associates

McKesson implemented ErgoAssess to reduce the risks posed to their 429 Australian and 120 New Zealand home based workers. Before this, McKesson used a paper based risk assessment which included asking staff to take several photographs of their home office.

As well as proving time consuming for employees, this paper based process also presented significant time demands on managers with the unenviable task of tracking and monitoring these assessments.

Because ErgoAssess provides its solutions online, it has helped McKesson easily assess the work environments of all remote workers. It has also helped to provide consistent ergonomic education and training to every employee. ErgoAssess was initially customised to ensure it appeared as a McKesson initiative and the content was specifically tweaked to suit the individual requirements of the organisation.

McKesson recognised that having employees in their home environments poses certain OHS risks; by tailoring ErgoAssess to mitigate these risks, McKesson can ensure that staff are working in a safe home office environment.

ErgoAssess has helped McKesson improve the attitude of staff toward the importance of health and safety by educating and training employees to take responsibility for their working environment.
